Early Stages

When invited by a person or group in your town, Vital Communities will give a presentation about Community Profiles to a group of interested townspeople. We ask that the initiating party assemble an audience that includes potential Steering Committee members, as well as some Select and Planning Board members and any others who are curious. It sometimes takes multiple presentations to different groups before there is enough understanding and enthusiasm for a nascent Steering Committee to emerge. The Select Board also officially endorses the event.

Steering Committee

A volunteer Steering Committee plans the event over 3 -12 months (depending on the event date chosen by the Committee and how fast the needed funds can be raised). In addition to the pre-event planning, the Steering Committee also runs the event and follows up afterward. The Committee chooses a Chair, Co-Chairs, a Secretary, and a Treasurer, each with specific duties to perform or oversee.
