A local organizing committee recruits a broad cross-section of townspeople to attend the event. At the Profile, participants share their ideas about the town's key issues and suggest potential projects to address them. The group considers all this input, identifies the issues and projects that are its collective priorities, and creates volunteer committees to implement the chosen projects over the following year. These committees are open to all; they provide citizens with new opportunities for public involvement, and they cultivate new leadership for the town. While going through the process described above, participants also celebrate their community by enjoying local entertainers and locally prepared food. Positive energy flows as participants meet neighbors, make new connections, and discuss community strengths. Smiles and enthusiasm abound. A spirit of 'Let's make it happen!' is in the air. |
