Expectations for the Institute
Participants touring Lebanon schools on Education Day
"The Leadership Upper Valley Program exceeded my expectations."
Joe Conway
We will provide an experience that respects 'sense of place'. Our curriculum is geared toward adult learners, combining listening, reading, experiencing and networking. You will gain actionable knowledge about the Upper Valley region and will join an accessible network of thoughtful leaders.
- Each session is held on the second Wednesday of the month from 8 am to 5 pm. Occasionally evening events may take place.
- Each class will consist of up to 30 participants.
- Prior to each session, you will receive an agenda with information about the logistics for the session, the learning goals and the homework assignments. (see sample agenda)
- Sessions are held in different locations throughout the Upper Valley to give you a better sense of our region.
- Morning and mid-day meals will be provided.
Responsibilities of Participants
- Attend all of the Institute Sessions. To receive a Certificate of Graduation, you must have no more than one excused absence.
- Complete up to 2-4 hours of selected preparation for each session.
- Complete "action assignments" through the year.
- Turn off/put away all communications devices during the sessions in order to create the best learning environment for all participants and presenters.
- Participants may not bring dependents to the program sessions, due to space and insurance considerations.
- Participants are encouraged to outline their personal learning goals, and to track progress on these goals during the year.
- Each class is encouraged to complete a service project.
