Lesson 13: Sharing your work with the community
- Focusing Questions/Themes:
- What do we need to do to revise our Quest?
- Materials:
- Computer
- Revised Copies of Quest
- Pencils
- Clipboards
- Procedure:
- Utilizing your notes from the testing session, each group revises its section of the Quest.
- A final draft is read aloud by the group.
- And then beta tested by another testing group, with a small group of volunteers (students, teacher, project partner) following the same procedures as above.
- A final set of revisions is made
- Quest is distributed to the public:
- 1st circle of distribution - Immediate project stakeholders
- Send a copy of your polished Quest to all of the participants in your process-along with a thank you letter.
- Consider sending them a 2nd copy, inviting them to pass this along to someone who might enjoy going on this quest.
- 2nd circle of distribution - the next ring out
- Hold an event to officially launch and celebrate your Quest. Consider collaborating with another (or several other) group(s) that could be served by this: For example a "Remembering the Civil War" event held on April 9th (the date of surrender at the Appomattox Court House) co-sponsored by the historical society, library or cemetery commission.
- Send a press release and copy of the Quest to your favorite local media outlets.
- Place the printed Quest at a kiosk at your Quest's starting point.
- Consider sending the Quest to other groups that might enjoy using it: a nearby school or scout group, etc.
- 3rd circle - Your broader constituency, & the Quest community at-large
- Submit your Quest for publication in your school or town annual report.
- Publish it on the school website;
- Submit it to us at Valley Quest to publish online (submission form)
- Publish it online for the national letterboxing community.
