Regiment Histories as Secondary Sources
Once students have adopted a specific soldier, using print and online regiment histories they may follow their soldier through the theater of the Civil War. They can learn about specific battles with the heightened investment that comes from concern about a specific person. As culminating products, they can write narratives about their soldier or a particular battle; they can create timelines; or perhaps create an overlay or map showing the regiment moving through space and time.
