Beyond Buy Local

Imagine an economic system that justly and sustainably allocates resources to meet the needs of communities without squashing the hope of prosperity. David Korten, founder of YES! Magazine and author of Agenda for a New Economy, calls this the living economy. In a living economy, community values drive economic decision-making from the grass roots UP. Efforts to strengthen community, from improving local jobs to supporting workforce development to donating time and money to charities and nonprofits – extend the reach of local economic exchange and increase resiliency for our communities in the face of a volatile and uncertain future. In other words, our work goes far beyond buying local (although that's a great start).

What does a living economy mean to you? Take our living economy poll and let us know.
