Many companies offer benefits for wellness, employee performance, and retirement, but commuting benefits are a great incentive as well. And studies show that employer support for transportation options leads to greater productivity, work satisfaction, and employee morale. Each company has its own needs and resources. The following incentives are common commuting benefits.

Preferred Carpool Parking
Want to reward your employees for saving your precious parking spaces? Give carpoolers a space close to the entrance. Show your employees, customers, and clients your support for smart commuting. Plus, at about $50/sign, preferred carpool parking is an affordable incentive.
Guaranteed Ride Home Program
People are sometimes reluctant to try a new commute because they fear not having a ride home in the event of an emergency. Have your employees sign up with Go Vermont or Upper Valley Rideshare and they’ll enjoy the free benefit of having a ride in the event of an emergency.
Transit Pass Reimbursement
Advance Transit provides amazing free service in the central towns of the Upper Valley, but Stagecoach and Connecticut River Transit do depend on fares for our long-distance commuter routes. As an employer, you can show your support for transit by purchasing passes for employees or reimbursing them for their fares. Plus, you can deduct up to $230 per month pre-tax for this employee benefit!
Per Diem Benefit
Want to give your employees the freedom to choose from a variety of options? A per diem benefit of $2-$3 per day can incentivize employees to try new options and help them with any new costs, such as bike helmets or transit passes. Or allow commuters to trade in “commuter points” for time off.
