In this case students found that SJ Allen was not only a soldier, but also a town leader who at different times worked as both a doctor and superintendent of schools in the town. Through looking at maps they also learned that his house and medical office was located where the local grocery store now sits.
Maps and directories, such as map directories and town directories can also give us information about the past.
