Newsletter November 2011
The official Valley Quest season has ended for 2011. It was an eventful season. We had so much fun with our first ever Super Quest, and enjoyed working in local classrooms on new Colonial Quests for the 250th Anniversaries. We have already awarded close to 100 UV 250 patches to folks who completed the Super Quest and discovered the secret word. We have more patches here to distribute if you have discovered the word. Just let us know!
As we collect our boxes for the counts, we realize that we lost many boxes and supplies to Tropical Storm Irene. The power of moving water is humbling. We are doing our best to assess the loss and replace the contents.
We want you to remain active this winter, so check out our Winter Quest collection. These Quest do not have treasure boxes but they do have stamps for you to take a rubbing from, so remember to bring a crayon or a pencil along with you. Along with the Winter Quests, many of our Quests are open year round. Search the directory by season to find which ones are open all year.
Remember hunting season is in full swing, so please wear your blaze orange when hiking in the woods!

Quest of the Month
The Quest of the month is Brothers of Woodstock. This is one of the many Woodstock Quests that are open year round. Woodstock is a great town to explore anytime of year. There is so much history there, great trails and great local shops to browse around in.

Super Quest Update
We have heard from lots of teams, but we still have plenty of patches to send out! How are you doing? Are you close? Do you need some help? Contact Laura. We will be drawing the Grand Prize winner at our Open House on Friday, December 2, so you will want to finish before then.

Vital Communities Open House
Come one, come all to our Open House on Friday, December 2, from 4 until 6 p.m. Come and see our new office located above the Upper Valley Food Coop in White River Junction, VT. We will have local food and drink available. This would be the perfect time to get your Valley Quest patch for 20 completed Quests or hat for 50 completed Quests. RSVP's are not necessary, but they are helpful.

Box Monitor News
Time to collect the boxes and send in your counts. We've heard from lots of you already -- thanks very much, but we would love to hear from the rest of you. If your box can stay out all winter and remain dry, feel free to leave it out, but we still need your count. We use this information in grant applications and for program evaluation. If you need some help this year, please contact Laura.
And once again -- a HUGE THANK YOU for all of your volunteering. It is so important to the program. We couldn't do this without you. We really appreciate all of your effort!
